Tuesday 2/28 and Homework

In class: we are going to have our rough draft peer-reviewed.
Then each student is to go through their folder and write a 3rd quarter reflection.
Work on script for visual presentation:

  • What theme or word best embodies who you are?
  • How do you embody that theme in your life?
  • Is there anything in your past that also reflects this theme?

Who Am I examples

Homework:
1) finalize your "Philosophy of Life" essay, using your peer's suggestions. You may also get another being (human that is, Jake)  to proofread as well (Maybe parents, Mr. Curtis, etc...)
2) do you have a word to describe yourself? If so, awesome. If not, find a word.
3) think about that word - answer the following and bring your thoughts to class. We will be working on our script that will describe ourselves to the class.
  • How do you embody that theme in your life?
  • Is there anything in your past that also reflects this theme

Wednesday 3/1

Today we looked at how Tone and Mood are established in literary works and then used two movie trailers for examples. we finished class with a lesson on commas.

For Friday, please
1) Read the "Masque of the Red Death" - it may be easier to listen to it HERE.(~18 minutes)
*This is a very densely written work - don't stress about understanding every word. What I want you to do is to see how Poe sets the tone and mood through the words he uses.
We will go over the story in class - make sure that you have annotated and circled words that you feel points to tone/mood.

2) Complete the comma worksheet that I handed out in class.
